GRAND SHOGUNATE OF CATHAY
Realm Name: Grand Shogunate of Cathay
Political Leader: Shogun Raitō Minamoto
Military:
Military consists of the Daimyo, provincial lords who rule the southern and western prefectures of Cathay, their retainers are called the Daikun (Lord Magistrate) who command the clans of the Samurai; the elite specialist warriors of Cathay. The Samurai will lead the regimental forces of the Senshi (Honorable Warriors).
The Daimyo are organized as military leaders of a full Regiment which may, should be needed, separate into five companies each lead by their retainer Daikun. A single Daikun is expected to control and command a company of two-hundred individuals, usually fifty-four of which are Samurai serving as platoon commanders, squadron commanders, and vice-commanders, and the company itself consists of five platoons itself consisting of four squadrons and lead by a Samurai commander.
Culture:
The culture of the Cathay revolves around the Guilds which hold much power over the professions within the Grand Shogunate. Guilds exist for the purposes of Farming, Banking, Mercantile, Magic/Cultivation, Blacksmithing, and more; leading to a diversified and stable economic circulation. There has been more than a few accounts of wanderers or vagrants from other nations coming to the DMTC only to be arrested and placed into the military, due to the nation's attitude on outsiders not arriving for work or business as troublemakers.
While it may seem like the culture embraces the military, this is due to the way the Military acts as a great workforce during times of peace. Additionally, the importance of self-defense is further embraced within Cathay, leading to many dojos springing up and also to many homeowners possessing their own weaponry ready to be press-ganged into militia should such be required. Cathay is also known to be fair-gendered giving mostly equal treatment to men and women.
Sunday is considered a general 'day of rest' for laborers and workers yet not for the Military who instead are allowed leave at the end of each work-day and may request longer stays of leave. The Grand Shogunate also holds many cultural festivals and martial tournaments to uplift the morale of the nation. Grand Cathay is also known to be a land of natural beauty where someone can spend time recreationally. In society, magic is rampant and common place, fueling everyday items such as lamps and cooking stoves, furthermore there are several guilds such as the MagiTek Research Guild, the Cultivation Society, and Elemental Sorcery Academie that embrace magic and technology.
