Frozen Wastes

Because there are almost no permanent settlements in Ascen, most of the nation is made up of a vast tundra. While there is an abundance of flat open spaces, not all of the tundra looks the same. Natural wells of magic across the land often release in vents, forming enormous twisted masses of ice and snow that sometimes stretch hundreds of feet into the air. These strange structures are a beautiful sight to behold, latent magical energy causing the crystals to glow with an unearthly light. While Caravans do frequently use these as landmarks and resting places, areas with large amounts of vents tend to attract powerful monsters.
